Biography

Huy Nguyen Trieu is the CEO of the Disruptive Group. He has navigated between startups and large organizations, from CEO of a startup to Managing Director in international banks, from mentor to entrepreneurs to Resident Expert at Oxford. He is fascinated by the changes happening around us, the impact of technology on many industries, and the changing dynamics between small and large organizations.

An engineer by background, an entrepreneur by nature, and more generally a “big picture” person, he co-founded and led Ukibi, a precursor of Linkedin, in 1999. After 5 intense years, he fell by coincidence into banking and was fortunate to be an intrapreneur in major international banks where he helped to build very large businesses. At the same time, he continued to be very engaged in technology and innovation, mentored dozens of entrepreneurs and supported many startups.

He writes the blog Disruptive Finance (www.disruptivefinance.co.uk), is the Fintech Resident Expert at Oxford Said Business School, and is a board member of Fintech HK. He was previously on the Fintech Advisory Board of the World Economic Forum and a Board Member of Trusting Social. Prior to The Disruptive Group, Huy was a Managing Director at Citi, a MD at RBS, a VP at SGCIB, and the CEO of Ukibi, a VC-funded startup in the US. He is a frequent keynote speaker in Europe and Asia, likes to teach and share with young students and entrepreneurs, and is regularly quoted in articles on innovation and finance.

Huy is a graduate from MIT (US), École Polytechnique (France) and Ecole des Ponts et Chaussees (France). He is married and a happy father of 3 daughters.
